In the afternoon of 19th March, the Chinese Association of Southampton and University Students have met the Leader of Southampton City Council, Cllr. Christopher Hammond. He is aware of the recent discrimination and hate crime incidents against the Chinese students and residents. We presented further details of these incidents to him and we received assurance from him of the full support from the Southampton City Council.<\/p>\n

Cllr Christopher Hammond \u4e5f\u8aaa\uff1a\u201c\u611f\u8b1d\u4f60\u5011\u904e\u4f86\u6703\u898b\u4e26\u5f37\u8abf\u76ee\u524d\u5e02\u5167\u4ec7\u6068\u72af\u7f6a\u7684\u589e\u52a0\u3002\u6211\u5011\u975e\u5e38\u91cd\u8996\u9019\u4e9b\u4e8b\u4ef6\uff0c\u4e26\u5c07\u8207\u8b66\u65b9\u5408\u4f5c\uff0c\u52aa\u529b\u9632\u6b62\u9019\u4e9b\u72af\u7f6a\u4e26\u61f2\u7f70\u8087\u4e8b\u8005\u3002\u201d<\/p>\n

\u5357\u5b89\u666e\u6566\u83ef\u4eba\u5354\u6703 \u548c \u5357\u5b89\u4e2d\u570b\u5b78\u751f\u5b78\u8005\u806f\u8abc\u6703 \u8207 \u5e02\u653f\u5e9c\uff0c\u8b66\u5bdf\uff0c\u5927\u5b78 \u4ee5\u53ca \u5404\u793e\u5340\u5718\u9ad4 \u7dca\u5bc6\u5408\u4f5c\uff0c\u4ee5\u7dad\u8b77\u5927\u5bb6\u7684\u5b89\u5168\u3002<\/p>\n

Cllr Christopher Hammond also said: “Thanks for coming in and highlighting the current increase in hate crime in the city. We take these incidences very seriously and will be working with the police to try and prevent these crimes and punish the perpetrators.”<\/p>\n

The Chinese Associaton of Southampton (CAS) and the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA-Soton) are working closely with the City Council, the police, the university and various community groups, in order to safeguard our safety.<\/p>\n
